Fuze Ceremonies were lucky enough to be invited to attend the first ever Lochaber Ideas Week, which was held in Fort William between the 18th-23rd of November 2013.

This brand new, exciting annual event aims to gather together the like-minded business brains of the local area and acts as a stage for networking, collaboration and entrepreneurship in order to enhance business development in the local area.

We attended many of the great events held throughout the week and heard many inspirational presentations from fellow businessmen/women based throughout the local area. It was great to get to meet new people and to gather a greater understanding of the business activity that is going on under our noses.

‘Around Lochaber in 80 tables’ was a great networking event held on the last day of the week long programme. All the local businesses involved were given the opportunity to showcase their company and were encouraged to network and establish any way in which they could collaborate. This was a great way to meet people and the atmosphere in the room really was very inspiring. Everyone wanted to be able to help in some way and we were able to meet some great people whom will be able to help us grow our business in Lochaber. We look forward to working with all of you!!

The highlight of the week’s activities was definitely taking part in Dragons Glen.

Dragons Glen is a competition where entrepreneurs face a panel of judges; ‘The Dragons’ and pitch a new business idea.  The winners recieving a £1000 cash prize, along with £1000 worth of web-design from Lamont Design, to assist in making the new business idea a reality.

Fuze’s new business idea ‘Feis on a Ferry’ is a new tourist attraction in Mallaig, a small fishing village in the Highlands of Scotland. We are working together with local suppliers to create an imaginative and creative hour long cruise to showcase the local musical talent, the best food and drink the area has to offer whilst sharing the history of the local area with our visitors.

We aim to launch our new event in May 2014. And what better time to launch this brand new tourist attraction than the year of Scotland’s Homecoming 2014.

The Dragons loved our pitch and announced us THE WINNERS OF DRAGON’S GLEN 2013!

Jodie Fraser, of Fuze Ceremonies (pictured second from the left) said  “We are delighted to have won Dragon’s Glen as we were up against some tough competition. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big well done to our opponents; you all did great. It was great to hear your ideas and we wish you the best of luck with your future ventures.”

Anne Widdop, founding Director of Fuze Ceremonies added “Watch this space for more information on our ‘Feis on a Ferry’ and Homecoming Ceremonies which will both be launching in 2014. We are all so excited about this new development and hope you are too!”

Fuze Ceremonies are announced as winners of the Enterprise Challenge
