We have the honour of conducting hundreds of Humanist Marriage ceremonies all over Scotland every year and get to work with some of Scotland’s premier suppliers to the wedding industry.

In June of this year, I had the pleasure of marrying Ian & Gayle at the Leapark Hotel in Grangemouth, in conjunction with Wedding Supermarket and some of these prestigious suppliers local to the area.

There was one big twist with this wedding though; the Groom had to choose EVERYTHING, including the wedding dress, without letting anything slip to the Bride. Yes, a bit like the popular tv programme.

But, with a little help from each of the suppliers and Carole, Ian chose everything perfectly and Gayle was over the moon with everything he had chosen and the day was perfect.  Thankfully we all had the chance to meet Gayle beforehand, so she knew Ian, and the big days itself, was in safe hands.

In the ceremony I commented that there is not one defining thing that makes a Marriage, it is made up of lots of components, one main part though is trust. And to trust someone else to plan your wedding, well, I truly believe that Ian and Gayle have proven that trust and good judgement will never be an issue in their marriage and they obviously have so much trust and love of the other.

Ian and Gayle, are the perfect couple, and are so obviously meant to be with each other. Their journey as a couple has not always been a happy one, but they have been determined to stick it out through all their up and downs.  It is very apparent how well they work together and how happy they make each other too.

The day taught me something; there is proof in the pudding that a good supplier will make sure that you make the choices best suited to you, your personality and ultimately your wedding day.

If you want to see what Ian’s choices for the day were, head over to our Facebook album.
