Our celebrants are very lucky when it comes to the wonderful venues and locations they get to go to work in. Couples who choose to have a Humanist marriage ceremony in Scotland have the freedom to tie the knot anywhere, whether that’s a castle, a beach, a hill top or a city centre hotel, it’s all legal.
With all eyes on Glasgow this summer we wanted to share a very Glasgow wedding with you all.
The marriage of Heather and Jonathan took plan in the City Halls, Glasgow on the 2nd June 2012.
A Very Glasgow Wedding
It was a beautiful day and the City Halls lived up to all expectations as a very stylish setting for a city wedding. Located in Candleriggs, in Glasgow’s vibrant Merchant City, The City Halls and Old Fruitmarket are best known as the home to BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Built in 1882 by John Carrick, the City Halls were the first halls built that could accommodate large local gatherings.
The humanist wedding ceremony itself was held in the beautiful white Recital Room. The City Halls has not only undergone extensive refurbishment but has amazing acoustics – including a grand piano and staircase. All credit to the great staff team who were a pleasure to work with.
Unique Wedding Ceremony
I met Heather and Jonathan almost 12 months before their wedding and had started working with them on their script for the day. Heather and Jonathan decided to include a Parent’s Well Wishing – which is a sensitive (and can be very emotional) way to include parents in the ceremony. They also had two readings from family and friends. A bit nerve wracking for them, but a lovely addition to a beautiful and very personal wedding ceremony in Glasgow.
It’s a good idea to give yourself a little time to consider all the options available in a humanist wedding. Your marriage ceremony is a great opportunity to create something unique, highly personal and something that truly reflects you and your partner. There’s a great deal of freedom of choice within the ceremony. I like to help couples create a ceremony that talks a little about their journey together and it’s a pleasure to create a ceremony that reflects their personalities.
