Humanist Weddings at Ingliston by Fuze Ceremonies

Featuring Thomas Slavin and Sam Conroy, Fuze Celebrants.

Choosing your wedding venue is probably one of the biggest decisions you will make (alongside choosing your Fuze humanist celebrant of course!)! There are so many considerations from the size of the venue, choice of facilities, setting, accommodation, unique photo opportunities and of course working with an experienced team who will go above and beyond to make sure you have the most perfect day.

That’s where our friends at Ingliston Estate & Country Club come in. Set within a stunning and idyllic private estate spanning over 90 acres, Ingliston offers a variety of unique wedding suites, including the Connemara Suite, The Salerno Suite and Grand Marquee to say your humanist wedding ceremony I DO’s in, and our talented team of humanist celebrants at Fuze Ceremonies can help every step of the way.

Our celebrants Thomas Slavin and Sam Conroy know only to well what an incredible setting Ingliston is as both guided, supported and created magical humanist wedding ceremonies at the venue for Samantha & Michael in December of 2023, and Victoria and Christopher in July of 2023.

Samantha & Michael’s Love Story

Thomas Slavin shared with us an extract from Samantha and Michael ceremony: “It all started back in 2013. They both had a mutual friend on Facebook, and it wasn’t long before they were chatting, there was clearly an attraction and Michael asked Samantha if she would like to go for dinner, so they met on the 26th July and headed to TGI Fridays in Braehead. Now Michael obviously liked Samantha and when they met he thought, “She’s a bit of alright- happy days!” and Sam, in turn, thought “wow he is tall and handsome”.

First Date

Now this wasn’t a blind date as such, but Sam’s mum needed to know she was ok, so they came up with a traffic light system, if he was nice a green light would be sent, if he was ok then amber and red if it was a no no and it was time to get an excuse to go. Sam, I sent a green light. The date went really well they got on so well together and the conversations just seemed to flow, in fact it went that well that just three days after on the 29th it was official, they were a couple, the more time they spent together the closer they became they were finding out just how many things they had in common, and the weeks turned in to years, in April 2015 saw you take your first holiday together when you went to the Algarve, it was just the beginning of their love affair with Europe they have travelled to so many beautiful places Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, Eindhoven, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Corfu and most recently Krakow to name a few.

Proposal Sparks Flew on November 5th

Before they knew it they had been together almost seven years when they decided to buy their first home together in May 2020 and moved in a few months later in the September. Now family is very important to these two and they get on with each other’s respective families, but when Samantha’s granny Vera was ill she has expressed her wish to see the two either engaged or married, she had such a soft spot for Michael and she knew he made Samantha happy, the couple always knew they would get married and the engagement was just a formality to that, now we all know that Michael does not like a scene but he got it just right, while they were away at Drimsynie Estate on the 5th November 2021 during dinner Michael took Samantha’s hand and asked her to be his wife, very shortly after Michael asked Samantha to Shush so as not to draw attention to them. Shortly after they facetimed everyone to give them the news, even gran picked up her phone to get the happy news.”

Humanist Weddings at Ingliston

We caught up with and asked Mairi Evans, Wedding & Events Coordinator from Ingliston Estate & Country Club, what stood out for both of these humanist led ceremonies.

“It was a pleasure to host Samantha & Michael’s beautiful winter wedding, and Victoria and Christopher’s summer wedding. We worked closely with both  Brides & Grooms to make sure their special day was full of fun and sparkle just like the couple themselves!

Our Connemara Suite was decorated in winter white and icy blue to match Samantha and Michael’s seasonal vision. Whilst for Victoria and Christopher, they enjoyed our Salerno Suite, matching their dream day expectations too.

Our celebrant friends from Humanist Weddings by Fuze Ceremonies, Thomas Slavin and Sam Conroy, both created and delivered very heartfelt and beautiful ceremonies to match the couple’s individuality and relationship. It was evident they had really took time to get to know their couple’s and their love story journey.

Congratulations to both Mr & Mrs Delaney, and, Mr & Mrs Andres – thank you for choosing Ingliston!”

Victoria & Christopher’s Love Story

Sam Conroy shared with us an extract from Victoria and Christopher’s ceremony:

“Well, in 2016, they met in a very traditional and modern way – no, not through work or a chance encounter at a bar – they met in the other very traditional and modern way – online dating! – through an app called ‘Ok Cupid’. And as luck would have it, Cupid’s Arrow did indeed strike, straight into Victoria’s inbox with a profile that really made her laugh! That proper laugh out loud kind of a laugh. Now you would be forgiven for thinking Cupid was at it, but for our Vikki here, she thought Chris was worth responding to and so after a few messages back and forth, they both decided it was most definitely worth a meet – I mean, let’s be honest, nothing screams ‘meant to be together’ like a shared interest in Vampire books – which was one of their points of discussion!

First Date

As first dates go, this was a success and Cupid took his arrow and went on his merry way to find his next unsuspecting couple. Chris openly let Vikki know he was enjoying her company and she shared that openness by saying she would like to meet him again and so on the back of Vikki liking Chris’ no-nonsense approach, they happily agreed to date number two. Which was lucky, as Chris had secured himself a parking ticket having run over his meter time – and as any good Loreal advert would tell you, well actually Chris, Chris would tell you, she was worth it!

Their second date was out for a Tapas meal at Barca and as Chris walked Victoria to the station to ge the train home, he politely asked Victoria is he could kiss her and they shared their very first kiss. And this was how their beautiful story began.

The Proposal

Chris began thinking about taking the relationship to the next level and told his Mum Marjorie that Vikki made him feel like he was home and that he was planning on proposing to her, during a trip to Lanzarote. They were having the most amazing time and the proposal, well, it kind of became a double proposal. Chris asked the question ‘Will you Marry Me’ and Vikki – shocked, delighted and super keen to say ‘yes’ – or so you would think! – made him ask it again – this time while down on one knee – and after he had bought her a Strawberry Daiquiri. Who said romance was dead!

Chris wanted Vikki to pick her engagement ring and so they both went shopping together to pick this once they were back home – but it turns out Chris knows her pretty well – and picked out the most beautiful ring for her anyway – and when Vikki tried it on, it fitted her perfectly. It was meant to be.
