Elizabeth McConnell, Celebrant

"Creating wonderful memories when planning your wedding and preparing for marriage is something that’s so important and I enjoy working with couples to help them develop something personal and unique. I also want to help families arranging a funeral to make sure their loved one’s story is told and celebrated at what is a very difficult time".

Elizabeth is available to conduct Wedding Ceremonies, Baby Namings &  Funerals Ceremonies.

It’s all about you! Whether that’s creating the most wonderful day to celebrate your wedding or capturing the essence of a loved one when it’s time to say goodbye, Elizabeth believes that everyone has their own unique story to tell.

She will work closely with you to develop the perfect ceremony, helping you to choose the best way to reflect your personalities. From choosing your vows to deciding how you want to share your story, Elizabeth will be with you to make sure you create wonderful memories. She will help you to make your day as personal as possible and it can be as formal or as informal as you are.

When it comes to the end of life, Elizabeth feels that it’s just as important to have a personal celebration that captures the essence of your loved one. Attending funerals the last few years, she was struck by how impersonal some of the services were, even when the person was known to the celebrant. When reflecting on this, Elizabeth’s friends suggested to her that she would be ideally suited to spending time with bereaved families and sharing the story of their loved one.

She was attracted to the Fuze Foundation because of their commitment to reflect the wishes of the family and their contribution to addressing funeral poverty and funeral affordability.

Elizabeth lives in Cumbernauld with her 2 grown-up children and is happy to conduct weddings and funerals across North and South Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Dunbartonshire, Falkirk, Stirling or throughout Scotland.

Paula Wilkinson, Celebrant

"No matter what your journey as a couple, it is a one of a kind love story".

Paula lives in the beautiful Highland village of Arisaig on the northwest coast near the Isle of Skye and qualified in 2018 as a Marriage Officer with Fuze Ceremonies.

After conducting a number of wilderness elopements, Paula was so hooked on delivering intimate ceremonies for two in the wilds of the western Highlands that she and Trevor Wilson from Silver Photography decided to start Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements, a company specialising in bespoke adventure elopements throughout the Highlands and Islands.

Paula graduated with first class honours in English Literature and Journalism and she loves the creative element of writing and delivering wedding scripts. She firmly believes that no matter what your journey as a couple, it is a one of a kind love story and she is eager to tell the tale.

Paula is happy to travel throughout Lochaber and welcomes the opportunity to meet couples looking to embrace all that the western Highlands has to offer as a location, both indoor and outdoors, for personality-packed weddings with a twist!

"Paula was the celebrant for our wedding last weekend at Camusdarach Beach in Arisaig. She was so lovely and helpful on the lead up to the wedding, answering all of our questions and making great suggestions for the ceremony. On the day, the weather turned terrible and but Paula helped us set up the location so we could stay out of the rain. The ceremony was amazing, so beautiful and we were blown away by Paulas care and attention to detail. We felt very relaxed as she kept us calm and organised. Thank you Paula for giving us such a perfect day which we will cherish forever".  Ayden & Pete, March 2018

"Paula did an excellent and so very personal humanist ceremony for us in such a beautiful spot. Prior to the wedding Paula helped us with vow suggestions, music and the ceremony itself. She did an excellent job organizing the guests in such a wild spot. It was clear Paula was enjoying events as much as we were and her steady hand through the ceremony kept our nerves in check! We have no hesitation recommending Paula and Fuze".  Gordon & Magda, September 2018

Brian Baxter, Celebrant

“I take enormous joy in helping others to create their own unique ceremony and to assist them in having the most memorable day of their lives.”

Brian is available to conduct Weddings, Vow Renewals, Baby Naming Ceremonies and Funerals.

Over several years, Brian has witnessed and ably assisted well over 1000 Celebrants in Humanist Wedding Ceremonies across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, particularly so when delivering his Highland Wedding Master of Ceremonies (Toastmaster) provision. Brian is a highly skilled public speaker and has a Robert Burns recital gift. He has an impressive Master of Ceremonies CV. Some clients have said that he is “the calm in the storm”.

He takes great joy in witnessing the freedom that a Humanist Ceremony gives to clients, making the occasion even more memorable for the newlyweds, family and guests. This extensive wedding experience triggered his thought process and it did not take him long to decide to study for and gain the Diploma in Humanist Ceremonies and become a Humanist Celebrant with Fuze Ceremonies.

Brian has been married to Val for over 30 years and have one son, Steven, who has recently “flown the nest”. Steven’s room is now being used as a “Walk in Wardrobe”, in which Brian is not permitted to hang or store any of his Highland clothes!  When not working, Brian and Val like to take Cruise Ship holidays.

Since age 16, Brian has had a staggering 40+ years military experience. At age 40, he took some time out from the military and worked in the Chamber of Commerce, Dundee, as a manager delivering learning & development to clients in a variety age groups. He also had a 3-year spell working for Local Government, as Team Leader of an Anti-Social Behaviour Team! which he says, “made his transition to becoming a celebrant very easy”! These past working experiences have aided him in developing his consulting, listening and toned communication skills and ensure that he always listens to his clients and guides them in their aspiration to create a unique, special, unforgettable, dignified, touched with fun, personal ceremony.

Brian is based in Scone, the biggest village in Scotland! He is enthusiastic to work, guide and inspire you, and is very keen to conduct your unique ceremony, anywhere in Perth, Dundee, Angus and the Tayside surrounding areas. He is more than happy to travel to the far reaches of the Highlands, including Aberdeenshire, Moray and Inverness if required.
