The Brilliance Of Balbirnie

Caitlin and Alan’s wedding at Balbirnie House Hotel, Glenrothes was outstanding! They had thought of everything and got the beautiful big outdoor wedding that they had dreamed and planned for! Caitlin was the most relaxed and chilled out bride ever! I joined her whilst she was getting ready for a hug and to make sure that she was doing OK, and she was completely fine taking everything in her stride.

Her bridesmaids were gorgeous in their light and dark blue dresses, the little flower girls were sitting contently watching cartoons on their ipads, all dressed and ready, then Caitlin and Alan’s little boy Alex came to visit his mum. He was SO cute with his blond hair, bright blue eyes and his tiny little kilt outfit matching his daddy’s. The styling for their wedding was incredible. There was nothing that Caitlin and Alan hadn’t thought of. They had a whole host of suppliers working with them on their day to make it as perfect as it was.

I’ll now share with you an extract reading from their wonderful love story journey, taking directly from the wedding ceremony script itself that I created alongside them.

In The Beginning

You may already know about our happy couple’s journey together so far, but some may not know the whole story. Alan is an Internet of Things entrepreneur and Caitlin was successfully hired and then joined the team too.

As Chief Technology Officer, Alan was always traveling. Attending meetings and picking up new business and projects. Before long, Caitlin found herself assuming some of Alan’s role back at the ranch which became very handy indeed! Caitlin and Alan would talk a lot remotely, but they didn’t physically see each other very often but within two years of Caitlin joining, Alan stopped traveling so much and was in the office a lot more.

First Date And More

The conversations between Caitlin and Alan began to heat up! So, in January 2019 they met each other for cocktails in Café Gandolfi, on Glasgow’s Albion Road, and then on to a fish restaurant for a fabulous meal. That night they realised that what they thought was true, they were so aligned, it was just meant to be, and there was no going back. One night Alan stayed over at Caitlin’s flat, unpacked his stuff and never left! He did have his own flat, but started to move items from his wardrobe into Caitlin’s over the following weeks and months to the point where he felt like his flat was no longer his home.

The time came for them to officially let their work colleagues know that they were a couple. Alan took to his laptop to craft an email to HR, typing then deleting and typing again, but he needn’t have worried, as everyone had totally seen it coming a mile away!

The word was out, and they were relieved, they could now enjoy their lives openly as an official couple!

Travel

Caitlin and Alan love travel (the non-work variety).

Alan wanted to treat Caitlin to a romantic trip to Paris, he booked it and they were excited to go. However Alan lost his passport! So Paris was cancelled and they went to Dunblane Hydro and climbed the Wallace Monument instead of the Eifel Tower! They did however make it to Paris later and had a lovely romantic time!

Skiing in the alps! Alan hadn’t been skiing since he was a child, but he was up for the challenge. He struggled to make turns and managed to dislocate his knee! He ended up going through Geneva airport in a wheelchair. Caitlin was grinning as she got to take the lift as his carer though!

They also decided to buy a house after this skiing trip. The wheels were put in motion and they started to look at potential properties in early 2020. Anyone who knows Caitlin well will know that she does not like waiting! They found an ideal Townhouse and put an offer in which was accepted.

Tech Free Holiday Proposal

In November 2020, times were hard, with work, and the pandemic so our couple just needed to get off grid, away from technology, phone signal and everything so they booked a rustic getaway . I’m not sure they realised just how rustic it would be however. The bath was outside and there was a composting toilet! Caitlin was outside in her PJs chopping wood, otherwise there would be no heat!

Alan decided that here would be a good place to propose to Caitlin. So, while she was in the outdoor bath, Alan asked Caitlin to marry him with his mother’s engagement ring, super romantic in this super remote place, just the two of them, and of course Caitlin said YES to his proposal! They then left the wood pile behind and checked into Gleneagles to celebrate!

The Patter of Tiny Feet

In Early 2021 they found out that they were expecting a Baby. Caitlin as her normal patient self, had to find out the sex as soon as possible. Apparently this is now possible very early with a DNA test and they were delighted to find out they were having a baby boy.

In November 2021, little Alex was born! It was a very last minute eviction after 2 days trying, with Caitlin being taken in for an emergency C-section. He was very well cooked at 9lbs and he looked like he wanted to be put back in, he was so grumpy! But he was healthy!

So far in his young life he has visited Australia, South Africa with his mum to help his Oma (great gran) move house and he has even been skiing. Thankfully he hasn’t inherited his dad’s discombobulation and is a very cute and talented baby in a pair of skis. He loves sledging with his dad, which is probably a safer pursuit… for Alan!
