Why Ben Nevis?

“Every year, I try and push myself to do something a little different, so in the past having completed Deer Stalkers, Tough Mudders, The Moonwalk, 10k’s, ½ marathons and the likes, climbing the Ben seemed like a natural choice.  It’s just a walk up a big hill…..isn’t it???”

What makes this event so special?
“It’s WOMEN ONLY for this event, hence the name ‘No Men Nevis!’ It really is a unique event in this sense and I’m excited to be a part of it”

What the training been like?
“It’s been really enjoyable and the pace has been quite different as I’ve not been running so much.  I am really lucky to live in a part of Scotland that gives me easy access to some beautiful and varied walks in preparation for the Ben it’s self.  I was lucky to have a few days off at the start of June, so my husband and I headed to the west coast for a few days walking and even bagged our first Corbett on the walk out from Knoydart, see main picture.  So of course, my first munro will be great to add to the list of achievements this year.
I’m also on the doorstep of the Ochils, so I have been exploring them too as well as undertaking a very hilly 1/2 Marathon (From Beasdale to Mallaig) in April.”

Are you doing this challenge for Charity?
“On this occasion the fantastic charity is Falkirk’s Mental Health Association, who do so much work for a subject that’s very close to my heart.

My work as a Humanist Celebrant helps support The Fuze Foundation which is a grant-giving Trust.  Established in 2012 the Fuze Foundation provides assistance to the disadvantaged in our society, support good causes and enables our team to promote Humanism.
Profits from our Humanist Marriage Ceremonies supports the Fuze Foundation to enable us to give donations to good causes.  In today’s society we recognise that there are many in need of our help, whether as a result of; youth, age, ill health financial hardship and many other disadvantages.
The Fuze Foundation has, over the years, raised thousands of pounds for CHAS (The Children’s hospice), Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Lochaber Hope just to name a few. In addition to supporting the Fuze Foundation through my work as a Celebrant, I like to support other charities when I can throwing in a physical challenge or two along the way.
It’s not going to be easy, but, I am excited about this challenge and I’m looking forward to sharing the experience with so many other lovely ladies too.”
