Witnesses at Your Scottish Humanist Wedding

Everything you need to know about your legal witnesses at a humanist wedding in Scotland with Fuze Ceremonies.

Read more below.

weddings

Scotland is stunningly beautiful and one of the few countries where couples can marry anywhere they desire. With a Fuze humanist wedding celebrant, you can say “I do” in mist-swirled glens, ancient forests, medieval castles, or deconsecrated churches—offering unlimited flexibility for your dream ceremony.

renewal of vows

Vow renewal ceremonies celebrate your enduring love and commitment. Perfect for anniversaries, including loved ones who missed your wedding abroad, making a fresh start, or celebrating after eloping. Romantic, exciting, and fun, it’s your special day to cherish forever.

speech writing

We write, you recite! We are passionate about words and helping others use the right ones for the occasion. Let’s face it, it can go horribly wrong when they don’t.

funerals

Our inclusive funerals celebrate each unique life personally. Our celebrants focus on the individual, free from doctrine or fixed formats. From traditional to unconventional send-offs, they’ll craft bespoke ceremonies that honour your loved one’s story, creating authentic services that put them at the heart of every moment.

Who Can Be a Witness at Your Humanist Wedding in Scotland?

When planning your humanist wedding in Scotland, there’s one legal detail that sometimes gets overlooked—your witnesses. Every legal wedding in Scotland requires two witnesses to sign your marriage schedule, and at Fuze Ceremonies, we’re here to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Your witnesses must be at least 16 years old, capable of understanding the ceremony, and present for the whole event. They can be friends, family, or anyone special to you—there’s no need for them to be related or based in the UK. In more intimate ceremonies like Scottish elopements, we can even help you arrange witnesses locally.

This part of the day may be short and simple, but it’s also meaningful. Many couples use it as an opportunity to include someone who’s played a special role in their relationship.

For full legal guidance, including how to submit your paperwork, visit the National Records of Scotland website.
