Meet Marie – Community, Connection & Celebration at the Heart of It All

I was born and grew up in Ayr and apart from 2 years in Glasgow when I was a student, this is where I’ve always lived and worked. I worked in care with the local council for more that 30 years and had some amazing experiences during that time.
I am married to David, my soulmate, and we have 2 sons, Iain and Conal, who are now both young men and are starting to make their own way in the world! We’ve been married for just over 25 years and are now looking forward to spending more time together as a couple once more.

I have a passion for amateur dramatics and am a member of a couple of local groups. This is how I met John Leo Scott and got chatting to him about being a celebrant. I must admit I found the whole idea a bit daunting at first, but when the council decided to close the service that I was working in, I knew it was time to move on to something new.

I love being a celebrant, meeting couples and families and hearing their stories, as well as finding out more about local history and some of the people who have shaped it.
I have always believed in giving back and have in the past been an active volunteer in many local groups and charities.
When I get any spare time, I love nothing more that getting into the sea or local lochs for a swim with some of my wild swimming buddies. It’s not all about how far or fast you can swim.
It’s more about the company being part of a community and being submerged in nature, and yes there’s usually cake involved!

I do love spending time with friends and family and celebrating anything and everything!
The next big celebration is a significant birthday for myself and although it’s not until next year,
as you can imagine there are a few ideas in the pipeline!.
