Morag Webster

Morag Webster, Celebrant & Fuze Ceremonies Director

"I enjoy meeting people, hearing their stories and creating a personal ceremony that they truly want. I feel privileged to conduct any kind of Humanist Ceremony".

Morag is available to conduct a variety of ceremonies, including Wedding, Civil Partnership, Baby Naming & Funeral Ceremonies.

Morag became interested in Humanism through a growing desire to discover a positive, rational philosophy for life.

Her interest was first aroused by attending several humanist ceremonies as a guest. She was struck by the many vivid ways with which people were able to celebrate life’s major milestones and share the human values which had brought together so many people.

Above all, she felt they were personal, authentic and memorable events.

With a belief in Humanist Principles, Morag is someone who enjoys meeting people and has a genuine interest in helping them. Looking to combine both her skills and her interest in people, Morag decided to take a new direction in her life and joined Anne to help establish Fuze Ceremonies and the Fuze Foundation in 2012. She trained as a Celebrant with the Fuze Foundation in 2012 and has been very busy ever since.

Morag’s professional background is as an established designer in interior furniture.  But now, as a full-time Celebrant she loves the fact that she is able to meet new people on a daily basis and create something unique for them.

Customer service is at the heart of everything Morag has been doing in her career to date.

Morag lives in Falkirk and is happy to travel to Stirling, Perth & Kinross, The Lothians, Fife, Stirling, Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Grampian.

George Smith

George Smith, Celebrant

"I am very much a people person so I love the opportunity and freedom to work closely with couples to produce a wedding ceremony that is unique to them. The only barriers in a Humanist Wedding ceremony are the limits of your imagination!"

George is available to conduct Wedding, Baby Naming & Funeral Ceremonies

George has been conducting Humanist wedding ceremonies for a number of years and began conducting funeral ceremonies in 2014.

Having worked in Hotel Management for over 20 years, with extensive participation in wedding receptions primarily as Master of Ceremonies, George saw training as a Marriage Celebrant as a natural progression.

He now feels honoured and privileged at being more involved in the actual wedding ceremonies. George has vast experience in events organisation, combined with a love of after dinner speaking and presenting shows on Hospital Radio. These assets provide George with the type of professionalism and confidence which he believes help to provide the best possible wedding experience for couples on the happiest day of their lives.

George has built a reputation for his attention to detail which he believes is very important when receiving details of a loved one’s life story and then telling that story at the funeral.   George has all the necessary qualities he believes are required to deliver very personal, moving and fitting tributes in the most professional and dignified manner.

Giving the deceased the ceremony they deserve is paramount in George’s opinion, and George feels honoured and privileged to be able to help families and friends through this most heartbreaking and stressful time. George believes that none of us really know what happens after the committal so these words which were written by his friend Andrew to be read by George at Andrew’s funeral are quite apt. “ I pass through this world towards eternity via the big sleep.  If the Galilean fisherman should stop me, then I will realise that my faith was shallow and most probably non existent. However if I were to be unmolested on my final journey, then this could indicate that a secular state exists, and that the final sleep will be everlasting”

George is based in Ayrshire and is happy to cover Ayrshire (North, South and East), Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, East and West Dunbartonshire, North and South Lanarkshire and the Greater Glasgow area.

Cindy Cosgrove

Cindy Cosgrove, Celebrant

"My favourite part of the ceremony? The moment the couple’s eyes meet each other’s as they enter to walk up the aisle! It’s priceless and you can just feel the LOVE!".

I love the freedom having a Humanist Ceremony allows couples. We are so lucky in Scotland to marry pretty much anywhere. I have had the pleasure of marrying couples in some of the most unique and beautiful locations. From castles, to gardens, hotels, country houses, intimate restaurants and even Loch Side, it’s important to me that everything about the ceremony reflects the couple.

With a First Class Honours Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management Cindy has been working with Fuze Ceremonies and on behalf of the Fuze Foundation since 2012. She has a passion to make a difference and is always keen for a new challenge. When she’s not marrying couples and conducting ceremonies Cindy works for the charity SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). As part of the fundraising team Cindy looks after community fundraising across Scotland and supports individuals who want to fundraise to support Scotland’s mental health.

Not one to shy away from a challenge, in amongst fundraising and conducting ceremonies Cindy enjoys taking part in several events to support various charities. You can often find her racking up the mileage in her trainers and she has completed 4 marathons to date including the London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon, Stirling Marathon and most recently Mhor Marathon!

All of this coupled with her Humanist beliefs and genuine drive for helping others, training as a Humanist marriage celebrant was a natural progression for Cindy and she feels honored to be able to help couples celebrate and commemorate life’s milestones.

Originally from the Highlands of Scotland but now based in Glasgow, Cindy is happy to conduct ceremonies in Ayrshire (North, South and East), Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, East and West Dunbartonshire, North and South Lanarkshire, the Greater Glasgow area and Inverness-shire.

Nancy Braid

Nancy Braid, Celebrant

"I became a humanist wedding celebrant because involving family and friends can make the marriage such a personal, intimate and memorable occasion".

Nancy is available to conduct Wedding, Baby Naming and Funeral Ceremonies

Having worked in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years, Nancy commenced as trainee cook, whilst taking day release classes and evening classes to gain her qualifications.

She is known to follow her heart and moved to London to the “big city” to gain further knowledge in the catering and events industry, looking after events and groups of 500 upwards on a regular basis.

However, her love for Scotland was too strong and several years later she returned home.

Nancy's knowledge of events and managing them reach new heights when she embraced working with an outside catering and events company, a very fulfilling and satisfying job whilst it allowed her to travel throughout Scotland visiting some of Scotland's wonderful islands like Tiree, Coll and Islay, and occasionally travelling South again to manage events for the British Open Golf Championships.

It also very much placed her at the forefront acting as Master of Ceremonies for many weddings and other prestigious events announcing in all guests plus the sometimes lengthy and interestingly titled top table guests.

Over the last few years though she has chosen to specialize in weddings, which in turn has found her becoming more and more interested in Humanist weddings; the intimacy and personal involvement of friends and family truly do make this a memorable occasion, of which she feels a wish to be part of ensuring that each couple has that unique memory to take with them for the rest of their lives.

In her spare time Nancy enjoys cycling, swimming, walking and reading. She also still enjoy being hands on in the kitchen and has a reputation for “creating” unique but tasty meals for friends and family.

Nancy is based in Glasgow and is happy to cover Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, East and West Dunbartonshire, North and South Lanarkshire and the Greater Glasgow area.

Janis Marshall Reilly

Janis Marshall Reilly, Celebrant

"My approach to life is one of kindness, respect and humour – so the fit is perfect; being a Humanist Celebrant ensures I can offer all of these traits to a couple for the most important of days".

Janis is available to conduct Weddings & Baby Naming Ceremonies.

After enjoying a Humanist Wedding on her own special day, Janis was inspired by the fun, personal, dignified and relaxed ceremony that she and her husband experienced. Her approach to life is one of kindness, respect and humour – and the Humanist ceremony offers all these things on the most important of days.

Likewise, Janis and her husband had a Naming Ceremony for their wee girl and again found this to be an uplifting, inclusive and beautiful experience.

Based in Glasgow and passionate about what Scotland has to offer, Janis enthuses about the incredible venues where couples can now choose to be married; from urban gems to lochside retreats. She feels that the joy of the Humanist ceremony is that couples can be wed in a place they truly connect to – and with a ceremony that tells their story. The same is true of Baby Namings; in fact her own daughter's ceremony was held in the family home - in a conservatory filled with rainbow coloured balloons!

Janis is a self-confessed happy maverick! A diverse background in public relations, events management and performing arts has seen her work in a variety of places from The Scottish Parliament to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – and perform in, direct and produce theatre and film with renowned creative organisations across the country.

Alicia MacDonald

Alicia MacDonald, Celebrant

"I want to use my experience, passion and professionalism to help create a meaningful ceremony that you both will remember forever".

Alicia is available to conduct Wedding Ceremonies.

Alicia’s passion is weddings!! She loves meeting with couples, getting to know them and helping them plan such a significant day in their lives. She has worked in the wedding industry for over ten years as an Events and Wedding Planner, working with couples to bring together the vision of their big day in to a reality.

Having been involved in many weddings over the years, Alicia has always enjoyed the wedding ceremonies performed by Humanists. It seemed to resonate with her more, she enjoyed how personalised they were and how they opened up a more open, capturing wedding ceremony.

Having met Anne from Fuze Ceremonies through working in the weddings Industry, Alicia knew the exact person to contact when it came to organising her own wedding. Anne married Alicia and her Partner in October 2014, performing a beautiful, personalised ceremony, one that they will always cherish.

Now working as a Humanist celebrant, Alicia wants to use her experience, passion and professionalism to help create a meaningful ceremony that a couple will remember forever.

Her other passion in life is travel!!! It is something she gets extremely excited about. She loves researching new places to visit, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people.

Alicia and her husband are fortunate enough to have travelled across the world together and visited some truly amazing places. They spent a year living and travelling around the whole of Australia, they have backpacked through Thailand and Indonesia, spent a Summer Island hopping in Greece and have visited many European countries and other World-Wide destinations in-between. Their most recent adventure took them to New Zealand where they had an incredible two years working, travelling and living in this amazing country.

During their time in New Zealand they found out they had a mini hitch-hiker travelling with them. So they returned home to Scotland in summer 2016 and their beautiful baby girl, Fearne was born soon after.

Alicia say that Fearne changed their whole lives the day they met her, her presence has encouraged them to be the best possible versions of themselves. She can’t quite talk yet but already her influence on them is incredible. What she hasn’t changed is the couple’s passion to travel, thankfully this little addition to their tribe loves to travel too. At eight weeks old she flew back to New Zealand with them to live for six months. They had a great time living and travelling through this country making memories they can one day share with her. During the trip they spent some time travelling in a campervan were she was truly in her element.

So as you can tell, Alicia’s three passions in life are weddings, travel and being a mummy. Weddings have taught her to be approachable and organised, Travel has taught her to be open-minded and laid-back, Parenting has taught her that she can function as a fairly ‘normal’ human on very little sleep.

Alicia’s passions aside, she wants to hear about what makes you happy, what your adventures have been as a couple and the love that’s brought you to this stage in your relationship.

It is her goal to make you feel at ease, to ensure your plans are put together with care and efficiency to create wonderful memories to start this new chapter of your life together.

Alicia is based in Inverness and is happy to conduct ceremonies across the whole of the Highland and Islands area.

Elizabeth McConnell

Elizabeth McConnell, Celebrant

"Creating wonderful memories when planning your wedding and preparing for marriage is something that’s so important and I enjoy working with couples to help them develop something personal and unique. I also want to help families arranging a funeral to make sure their loved one’s story is told and celebrated at what is a very difficult time".

Elizabeth is available to conduct Wedding Ceremonies, Baby Namings &  Funerals Ceremonies.

It’s all about you! Whether that’s creating the most wonderful day to celebrate your wedding or capturing the essence of a loved one when it’s time to say goodbye, Elizabeth believes that everyone has their own unique story to tell.

She will work closely with you to develop the perfect ceremony, helping you to choose the best way to reflect your personalities. From choosing your vows to deciding how you want to share your story, Elizabeth will be with you to make sure you create wonderful memories. She will help you to make your day as personal as possible and it can be as formal or as informal as you are.

When it comes to the end of life, Elizabeth feels that it’s just as important to have a personal celebration that captures the essence of your loved one. Attending funerals the last few years, she was struck by how impersonal some of the services were, even when the person was known to the celebrant. When reflecting on this, Elizabeth’s friends suggested to her that she would be ideally suited to spending time with bereaved families and sharing the story of their loved one.

She was attracted to the Fuze Foundation because of their commitment to reflect the wishes of the family and their contribution to addressing funeral poverty and funeral affordability.

Elizabeth lives in Cumbernauld with her 2 grown-up children and is happy to conduct weddings and funerals across North and South Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Dunbartonshire, Falkirk, Stirling or throughout Scotland.
