Glazert Hotel, Lennoxtown

In September last year, I had the pleasure of conducting a wedding ceremony at Glazert Country House Hotel, in Lennoxtown (about ten minutes from Glasgow).

It was my first visit to this wedding venue, which seems to be very well run and has a cosy atmosphere.

The Manager Mark and his staff team were extremely friendly, helpful and made sure that the ceremony went without a hitch, (excuse the pun!)

The hotel is set within beautifully maintained gardens, bordering the river Glazert, and it’s a perfectly secluded venue. The Macintosh suite, which was perfectly set out on the day, is a nice size with plenty of natural light. The Hamilton suite is also available for smaller groups or parties.

As a marriage officer with the Fuze Foundation I have the opportunity to travel the length and breadth of Scotland and visit many venues, it’s always nice to be made to feel as welcome as I was at the Glazert, as this doesn’t happen with every venue, believe me!

The groom was excited, and the bride was a little nervous. The ceremony itself was light hearted in places, with plenty of emotions being shared too and once the declarations had been made and he schedule signed, the nerves disappeared and it looked like the bride, groom and their guests were all getting ready for a right good celebration.

A humanist ceremony can take almost any form and you are only bound by your imagination. This ceremony in particular contained a very special reading from the Bride’s niece, entitled ‘A word to Husbands’:

Too keep your marriage brimming,

With love from the loving cup,

Whenever you are wrong admit it,

Whenever you’re right shut up!

The reading is a perfect choice for a child to read, as not only is it short and simple, but it also allows them to say the words ‘Shut Up’, without getting into trouble!
