Amy Shipway

Amy Shipway

““Telling people’s stories, whether in a celebration of life, or a celebration of love is something which I take great care and pride in. Every person, whether they lived a small or a big life has a unique story to tell, and getting to tell those stories is the greatest privilege of being a Humanist Celebrant.”

Amy is available to conduct Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Vow Renewals, Baby Naming Ceremonies and Funerals.

It all started with… a funeral! When the phone rang unexpectedly one day to tell Amy her beloved aunt had died, she never expected it could have led to a change of career.

Delivering her aunt’s eulogy was a profound experience for Amy as she realised how much a truly personal funeral ceremony can help families in the grieving process. Since that day she has been the ‘go-to’ for all family and friends’ celebrations and life events: from wedding speeches to eulogies, Amy has spent over a decade putting her love of writing and public speaking skill to great use, so it felt like a natural progression to train as a Humanist Celebrant.

Amy is an active person with bundles of energy and a passion for living life to the fullest. She has lived in many corners of the world and even once ran away with the circus! Thankfully that didn’t last long and she returned to Glasgow to gain a degree in Scottish Literature, before moving on to grow and run several businesses, specialising in fitness, events and marketing; meaning she is an incredibly well organised person! She now co-owns an alternative fitness studio in the Southside of Glasgow, so when she isn’t preparing ceremonies, she can be found stretching on the yoga mat, swinging on the aerial hoop or scaling the Scottish mountains with her partner.

Amy is based in Glasgow and covers East Renfrewshire & Renfrewshire, Glasgow City & East /West Dunbartonshire and North & South Lanarkshire. You can contact Amy on amyshipway@fuzeceremonies.co.uk or you can see more of Amy on Facebook and Instagram

Gayle Morrison

Gayle Morrison, Celebrant

Gayle is available for Vow Renewals & Baby Naming, and Funeral Ceremonies

Gayle is based in Stirling and covers Aberdeenshire & Moray, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, East Renfrewshire & Renfrewshire, Edinburgh & Lothian, Glasgow City & East /West Dunbartonshire, Inverness-shire, North & South Lanarkshire, Perthshire, Fife & Angus, Scottish Borders, and Stirlingshire

Gayle has always loved hearing the stories of people’s lives – where they were born and brought up, how couples met, trips they have taken that they refer back to for years to come, and moments of laughter and sadness that they carry with them. Gayle believes each turn of someone’s life can change the direction of their future, and being asked to pull this together for a Humanist Ceremony is something Gayle thrives on. Gayle focuses on keeping everything as personal as possible and telling the story of a life or lives.

Becoming a Humanist Celebrant was something Gayle was always interested in, but the moment had to be right, and when her daughter got engaged, that was the sign she needed. Putting the story of people’s lives to paper and bringing it all to life is something Gayle will never get bored of or take for granted. With each ceremony, she strives to represent those involved as best she can. Gayle is intrigued with life stories and believes there is no role like this. She loves finding out information about people where the phrase “never judge a book by its cover” is never more appropriate.

Gayle was raised in the Outer Hebrides and loves the outdoors. She is now based in Stirling, the heart of Scotland, and takes advantage of the vast open space available to walk and run in when she gets the chance. Gayle can talk for hours about her cat and loves to travel at any opportunity with her partner Robert. She has two grown-up children, both of whom are making their own way in the world, and she could not be prouder of them.

Gayle says ‘It is a huge honour to be asked to conduct a life moment, and I take that very seriously.’

Christine Carruth

Christine Carruth, Celebrant

Christine is available for Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Vow Renewals, Baby Naming and Funeral Ceremonies

Christine is based in Renfrewshire and covers Argyll & Bute, Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire & Renfrewshire, Glasgow City & East /West Dunbartonshire, and North & South Lanarkshire

Christine would love to be able to guide and support you through those memorable days and times of your life. It doesn’t matter what those may be – a wedding, naming day or saying goodbye to someone you have loved– she will be there to help you process your thoughts and create a celebration that is both empathetic and reflects you, your personality and your values.

As a primary school teacher in her local community for 25 years, Christine thrives on getting to know people and bringing the best out of them. She believes in equality and supports people in their drive to equal opportunities for themselves and others. At the same time, Christine celebrates diversity, and all of this is what motivated her to become a Humanist Celebrant. She just enjoys being around people and listening to their stories.

Personally, Christine enjoys travelling, cooking/eating, and is always looking for a challenge. A couple of years ago, she walked the Northumberland Coastal Path to celebrate a “big” birthday.

Christine is a country girl at heart. She grew up in the Ayrshire countryside and now lives on a farm in Renfrewshire with her husband and two teenage children. She can be found there normally chasing the dog around the garden, trying to retrieve something it shouldn’t really have.
