Jennifer realised that she wanted to become a Humanist celebrant after her own Mum’s funeral. She found the funeral so meaningful and personal as all the words had been put together by the family and the story told was as true and as emotional as it could be. After her mum’s humanist funeral service, she decided that she wanted to be able to help families through sad and difficult times and felt confident that she would offer a warm and personal experience.

Jennifer has worked with people from all walks of life during her varied and exciting career and has developed great listening and communication skills. Her first passion was to be a successful hairstylist and have her own business which she did for a few years before changing direction into sales and business development.

She is passionate about customer service and believes in giving only the best to build on relationships. She has vast experience in the hospitality industry which covered many roles including planning and organising conference and banqueting functions, weddings, and funerals She knows a lot of how it all works and has always been successful in making people happy.

Jennifer believes that being a celebrant is a pleasure and an honour as people are putting their trust in you. The role demands fantastic attention to detail and of course empathy in certain situations. Going forward she just has a desire to give deliver unique and personal ceremonies.

Jennifer has a passion for people and thrives when meeting new and diverse individuals with different approaches to things. She has an open mind and is always up for a challenge. She carries a desire to see families through sad and difficult times as she has personal experience of the despair and heartbreak this can bring when losing a loved one.

Everyone should be able to have the service or ceremony personal and unique to them and their family and that is what Jennifer will strive to do.

Kayreen worked as a Civil Servant for over 20 years and has vast experience helping others and public speaking. She loves meeting new people and her friendly, open personality will soon have you feeling that you are talking to an old friend. If she is honest, she will tell you that she is really nosy, she enjoys hearing everyone’s story and working to make each ceremony unique and special to them.

Her journey to become a celebrant began after attending Humanist ceremonies. It resonated with her how fun and individual the weddings were and that the funerals were a celebration of that person’s journey through life. She wants to be able to bring that comfort and joy to the people she works with.

She also works part time in the family Blacksmith business and is fascinated with myths and folktales and related to this work. Everyone has heard of being married over the anvil and horseshoes being gifted to the newlyweds for luck. She wants to share this ancient tradition and is able to make it an option for her marry you over her own anvil with hammer and lucky horseshoes.

Alison Magill

Alison was inspired to train as a Humanist Celebrant after 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. As the owner of a much loved pub, (a hub for its community for 16 years), she was experienced in hosting personalised events for all life's significant moments. She enjoyed supporting celebrants and witnessed first hand the difference their thoughtful words or empathetic deeds could make to families in telling a loved one's story or when celebrating life's joyful events. When Alison had the opportunity to pursue a new career, becoming a celebrant was the natural next step

Alison is also a graduate of Edinburgh college of art and diversified into many creative fields which she continues to pursue today. Alison is a skilled professional, an excellent communicator and listener, with proven organisational skills. With her creative flare and meticulous attention to detail she is ideally suited to creating bespoke ceremonies reflecting the personalities of those wishing to celebrate, to make memories, to add to their own stories or reflect on the stories of their loved ones.

Alison has 3 grown up children of whom she is immensely proud. She lives just outside Edinburgh with her much-loved Cockapoo who always makes her smile

Meeting all sorts of people has always intrigued Katy.

Katy started life as a language’s teacher over 26 years ago. She currently works with vulnerable and traumatised young people, who find mainstream education challenging. Working with, both them and their families to build back trust and help them realise their full potential is enormously rewarding to Katy.

Out with that, Katy is more often than not, to be found wandering in the hills or, ensconcing herself in the local coffee shop with her favourite book, Jane Eyre.

Katy is based in the Glasgow area and covers East Renfrewshire & Renfrewshire, Glasgow City & East /West Dunbartonshire and North & South Lanarkshire.

Kevin McLaughlin

Kevin comes from an extensive sales and account management background and has worked in the same industry for 35 years, where he has gained a wealth of experience and transferable assets such as being a good listener and communicator, has really strong people skills and has always built and maintained good working relationships. As well as all of this Kevin has hosted and compered local family fun days and charity events in the community and also works as a voluntary radio presenter.

It is this vast experience and skill set which made Kevin decide he wanted to train to become a funeral celebrant, as he has all the necessary qualities he believes are required to meet and work with families who have lost a loved one, and are going through a heart-breaking experience. Not only will he bring a great deal of empathy, care and attention to the whole process with the family, but he will also create a bespoke and fitting tribute and present the most dignified and personal ceremony for their loved one, in the manner that their life should be remembered and celebrated.

At home, Kevin is married to Angela and is Dad to Joshua, he considers himself to be a proper family man and is happiest when the three of them are spending time together. He also has a huge passion for sport, live music and comedy evenings and is part of a big social circle in his home town of Johnstone.

Sandra has a professional background of many years in cancer and palliative care nursing at a senior level in the NHS and now works on a part time basis. Her focus is always about supporting staff to be able to provide person centred care. She is driven by a passion for excellence in communication, advocating the value of creating a human connection that is based on kindness and compassion. Another passion is about equity of access to the most appropriate care and services for each individual.

Having been heavily involved in Bereavement Care, has led her to become a Celebrant. She believes strongly that everyone “has a story” and it is her great pleasure and privilege to be able to share those stories, embracing the respect and dignity of all as human beings. Life is a journey, sometimes taking us on a path we would not choose to be on but with love and kindness around us, we can get through those times. It is so important to treasure those very special times and events on that journey and celebrate with the joy we are all entitled to have as human beings.

Those special moments for Sandra are with her family and friends who are all precious gifts on her journey.

With a vibrant personality and a great sense of humour, Anna has a natural ability to captivate an audience and is a born storyteller. Bringing humour, inspiration and realism to ceremonies, whether that’s the joy of celebrating a new or established relationship or having the privilege and honour to celebrate the life and loss of a loved one.

Anna loves working with couples and families to find the perfect reading, or symbolic gesture to make a very personal and individual ceremony. She especially loves working with people who want to try something a little unusual, and her mantra is … ‘Don’t be afraid of being different, be afraid of being the same as everyone else’.

As an HR Manager, Anna's people skills are excellent, enabling her to build a quick understanding of what her clients are looking for, she’s a great listener and always manages to draw out what people want, even when they don’t know it themselves!

After 20 years in the corporate arena, Anna began to look for something more creative to channel her energies. Becoming a celebrant has given Anna an outlet for her creative writing, and she loves to hear people's life stories and turn them into beautiful, unique scripts, that are full of joy and laughter whether it's for a wedding or creating a memorable farewell for a loved one.

Anna is based in Angus and covers Aberdeenshire & Moray Perthshire, Fife & Angus.

Gus Grubb

Gus left school with virtually no qualifications and undertook a Youth Training Scheme program securing an apprenticeship as a Sheet Metal Worker. He returned to college while continuing to work across the manufacturing industry. Gus then moved into further education and has remained there ever since. He was a lecturer and curriculum manager until 2018 when he became Dean of Faculty. Gus is used to working to the highest standards when it comes to planning and organising. With 25 years of experience, he has presented to audiences large and small.

Gus has also had the pleasure of working in sport for many years, predominantly managing youth and amateur football. This has helped develop his interpersonal and communication skills, which are now honed to a level that most people warm to.

Throughout his life Gus has met many incredible people and has been honoured to share so many of their life experiences. It is this, that brought him into the role of the celebrant. Gus had the pleasure of conducting his daughter's wedding ceremony, a memory created to last for all of their friends and family. As a celebrant, he wants to hear and share so many more stories and learn so much more about the people we share this earth with.

Gus enjoys spending time with his family, including his lovely wife, boisterous 30 year old son, his darling 26 year old daughter, and most recently, his beautiful granddaughter Skylar.
