More Than a Donation: Why Our Charity Partnerships Matter

June 9, 2026by Morag Webster

One of the things I am most proud of as Chair of The Fuze Foundation is seeing the difference that can be made when a group of people come together around a shared purpose.

Between March and May 2026, our incredible team of Humanist Celebrants has helped raise a further £1,850 for our charity partners, with £900 donated to Alzheimer Scotland and £950 donated to Beatson Cancer Charity.

Seeing our total community giveback pass £122,000 is a milestone that fills me with enormous pride. When The Fuze Foundation was created, the ambition was simple: to use our work as celebrants to create a positive impact beyond the ceremonies themselves. To see that vision continue to grow year after year is incredibly special.

Every ceremony conducted by our team contributes towards the work of The Fuze Foundation, meaning that the families and couples who choose Fuze Ceremonies are helping us give something back to communities across Scotland. Every wedding, funeral, naming ceremony and vow renewal plays a small part in supporting causes that make a real difference to people’s lives.

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting with Heilidh Wilson and Heather Wright from Beatson Cancer Charity, along with Suzie Beresford from Alzheimer Scotland. We gathered at Beatson’s offices at Gartnavel Hospital for one of my favourite parts of our charity partnerships.  And that is taking time to sit down together, share updates and learn more about the incredible work taking place behind the scenes.

Of course, presenting donations is always rewarding, but for me these meetings are about much more than handing over a cheque.

They are an opportunity to hear first-hand about the lives being changed through the support these charities provide every day. They allow us to better understand the challenges people face, the services available to them, and how we can use our platform to help raise awareness of the work being done.

One of the things that makes our charity partnerships so special is that we don’t see them as purely financial relationships. We want to build genuine connections and look at how we can support beyond donations alone. Whether that’s sharing information, raising awareness, volunteering our time, fundraising, or helping charities reach new audiences, we believe meaningful partnerships are built on much more than money.

During our meeting, we chatted about the work both charities have been undertaking over recent months and discussed ways we can continue to support them throughout the year ahead. There was plenty of inspiration around the table and a shared commitment to making a positive difference wherever we can.

I’m also delighted to say that several members of our team have already signed up to support our charity partners through some exciting fundraising events over the coming months. I can’t reveal too much just yet, but there are some fantastic challenges being planned and I have no doubt there will be plenty of determination, laughter and perhaps a few sore muscles involved along the way!

We’ll be sharing more details soon, so watch this space.

What I love most about The Fuze Foundation is that giving back isn’t something we do once a year or as a one-off campaign. It is woven into who we are. Through the ceremonies we conduct, the conversations we have, the communities we support and the causes we champion, we are able to make a small but meaningful contribution to organisations doing extraordinary work.

To everyone who chooses a Fuze Celebrant, supports our events, volunteers their time or helps spread the word about our charity partners, a massive thank you. Your support helps make all of this possible.

Together, we’re proving that doing a job we love can also help make a difference to the lives of others.

And that is something worth celebrating.

Together, we are the Fuze Foundation
