£110,000 of kindness, dignity, and support since 2012!

September 12, 2025by George Mclean

13 Years of Impact: How the Fuze Foundation Has Made a Difference

For more than a decade, the Fuze Foundation has been quietly, but powerfully, changing lives across Scotland. What began as a small group of passionate Humanist celebrants coming together to support people in need has grown into a movement of compassion, dignity, and action.

Over £110,000 Raised and Given in Kind

Since 2012, the Foundation has created an impact worth in excess of £110,000. This has been achieved through a combination of direct donations to charities and support given in kind.

That amazing total reflects two powerful streams of giving:

£45,000+ in direct donations to charities across Scotland.

£60,000+ in support in kind, from free ceremonies to practical help for families in need.

Behind those totals are hundreds of moments of kindness and solidarity: free funerals for families facing hardship, free weddings for couples dealing with terminal illness, and countless donations of time, expertise, and ceremony fees.  We also never charge for a child funeral ceremony — ever — because no family should face financial pressure at such a heartbreaking time.  Every single act of generosity has added up to something extraordinary.

Much of this is made possible thanks to Fuze Ceremonies, which donates a portion of every legal wedding fee to the Foundation. This ongoing support means that every couple choosing a Fuze wedding is also helping to fund the Foundation’s charitable work.

Our efforts have enabled us to support some of Scotland’s most vital charities, including Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Lochaber Hope, Beatson Cancer Charity, Alzheimer Scotland, CHAS, SAMH, The Scottish Cot Death Trust, and MND Scotland.

We’ve also proudly supported organisations like Threehills Glasgow, Caledonia Funeral Aid, and Funeral Link. Not financially, but by helping to raise their profile and visibility so they can reach the people who need them most.

Humanism in Action

The Fuze Foundation is about more than just money.  It’s about living Humanist values: compassion, equality, and practical support. Every free ceremony, every donation, every kilometre walked or cycled shows what Humanism looks like when put into action.

As Humanists, we believe in helping others without expectation of reward. The Foundation is a living example of this: kindness and dignity turned into something tangible that makes life a little easier for those who need it most.

A Community Effort

Our impact hasn’t come from one big act but from many small ones. From celebrants giving their time, a portion of all legal wedding fees being donated, families contributing in memory of loved ones, and team members pushing themselves through challenges to raise funds.

It all adds up. Over 13 years, those individual efforts have created a collective impact that’s certainly worth celebrating.

Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, our mission remains the same: to support families, champion compassion, and show Scotland what Humanism in action can achieve. With your help, we’ll continue to grow that impact.

One ceremony, one act of kindness, one life touched at a time.

Your ceremony helps us give back.

Together, we are the Fuze Foundation
