Empowerment Through Compassionate Giving!
March is an opportunity to spotlight The Fuze Foundation’s commitment to equality, empowerment, and community support, while also launching our new year-long partnerships with Beatson Cancer Charity and MND Scotland. We announced our March 1st 2025 to February 28th 2026 charity partners on Valentines Day 2025, our little way of sharing the love on this yearly calendar date of celebrating love.
Our March theme connects to the humanist values of compassion and equality with meaningful action, so watch out as we share some of the work our humanist celebrants do around their communities.
March also celebrates some notable and key awareness days such as Zero Discrimination Day, International Womens Day and, of course, Mothering Sunday. Join us on our Fuze Foundation Facebook page as we celebrate.
Our Kelpies Trio £2,800 Success!
We’re thrilled to share that three of our incredible celebrants – Nancy Braid, Nicole Lowther, and Zoe Bell-Arnot– have successfully conquered The Kelpies Experience🏇✨
On 21st February 2025, they took on this thrilling challenge in support of Beatson Cancer Charity, one of our Fuze Foundation partners. Scaling the world’s largest equine sculptures, they navigated cables, ladders, and suspended platforms to reach the iconic horses’ mouths—all while embracing the history and engineering behind these breathtaking landmarks.
And to top it off, they completed their climb with an unforgettable Quick Flight rope drop! 🎯
A huge well done to our fearless team for their bravery and dedication to such a worthy cause. Their combined fundraising was: £2,800

Humanists Strive For Fulfillment In Their Lives
This March, as we embrace the humanist values that empower us to strive for fulfillment in our lives and focus our thoughts towards equality and empowerment through compassionate giving, we again reflect on the Amsterdam Declaration of Humanism.
Humanists believe in a life well lived, embracing joy, creativity, and ethical living in ways that uplift not just ourselves but those around us. Whether through art, music, literature, or simply the beauty of nature, fulfilment is not a solitary pursuit—it flourishes when shared. True empowerment comes when we create opportunities for all to experience enrichment, regardless of background or circumstance.
At the Fuze Foundation, we champion the idea that generosity and compassion drive real change. By fostering a culture of giving—whether through time, talent, or resources—we create a ripple effect that enables others to grow, thrive, and find their own sense of fulfilment.
We encourage you to reflect on what fulfilment means to you and how you can use your passions to uplift others. Through compassionate giving, we empower not just individuals but entire communities, ensuring that joy, knowledge, and opportunity are accessible to all.
Wrapped in Love: A Beautiful Symbol of Unity and Inclusivity

The Blanket Ceremony is a heartfelt ritual that embodies unity and inclusivity, making it a meaningful addition to humanist wedding or vow renewal. Rooted in Native American traditions, particularly within Cherokee culture, this ceremony involves wrapping the couple in a shared blanket, symbolising warmth, protection, and the merging of lives.
In a recent celebration, our celebrant Jane Alexander’s couple incorporated this tradition by using a handsewn blanket, inviting family members to participate, and creating a lasting keepsake that honours their diverse backgrounds and shared journey. This practice reflects humanist values of inclusivity and diversity, embracing all aspects of a couple’s life and heritage.

Behind The Folder With Yvonne Hannah!
In this months ‘Behind The Folder’ feature, we explore the person behind our Dunfermline based celebrant Yvonne Hannah.
I grew up in rural Perthshire, there was a lot of fruit and tattie picking in my childhood, so you could classify me as a country bumpkin! I am now an honorary Fifer having lived in Dunfermline for nearly 20 years. I’m married to my darling husband Allan, and have two furballs, cocker spaniels Skye and Ember (Skye’s daughter and an absolute ginger fireball!). Together we love traveling around Scotland’s stunning coastline with our all-time favourite destinations being the Highland West Coast and the Inner and Outer Hebrides. We head over to Harris and Lewis this June with my folks – we just love getting off grid, wandering the large white sandy beaches and paddling in the turquoise sea.
We enjoy being outdoors and camping in the summer months. We usually time a camping trip around a wedding ceremony that’s a bit further from home. We are social animals too and have a great circle of friends, we are always planning something! We were married seven years ago this year by the fabulous Morag Webster at Crieff Hydro Hotel. It was our marriage that planted the seed in my mind to become a celebrant with Fuze myself.
I worked for a coach travel company and would attend wedding exhibitions with wedding coach hire and see various celebrant stands, and the people just seemed to genuinely love what they do. So I kept the idea in the back of my mind for around four years.
One year whilst traveling around the NC500 I said to Allan that I was going to go for it! Covid opened the door for me when I was made redundant from my job at Stagecoach – I used my redundancy money to train with UKCAPSA – and I haven’t looked back!
I LOVE being a celebrant, and it’s not just weddings I love doing. I have a passion for supporting families who have lost people in their lives too. I conduct funerals also. I conducted one for my own family once, when my uncle sadly passed away at only aged 52. That has to be the hardest ceremony I have conducted so far in my career, but I feel stronger for having been there for my own family and for him.
And I have conducted baby naming ceremonies too. A memorable one being for a couple I married who had a wee boy and asked me to go down to Stranraer to name him – of course I said ABSOLUTELY!
I have loved conducting each and every one of my wedding ceremonies so far, all amazing, unique and different in their own ways. The people are what I love the most. I just love meeting people and hearing all about their journey in life right up to that moment where they will say their vows to each other and change their lives forever. I can’t wait to be a part of my future couples and families special days!
