Every year on the 8th March, the world marks International Women’s Day. It’s a moment to celebrate the achievements of women, recognise the progress that has been made, and continue the work towards equality and opportunity for all.
At Fuze Ceremonies and The Fuze Foundation, this day holds a particular meaning for us. Since our beginnings in 2012, both organisations have been proudly female-led and managed, built on the belief that compassion, collaboration, and creativity can shape something meaningful for families and communities across Scotland.
But this is not simply a story about women in leadership. It is a story about people working together to make a difference.
A Journey That Began With an Idea
When Fuze first started, the vision was simple: to create ceremonies that truly reflected the people at the heart of them. Weddings, funerals, namings, and celebrations of life that were personal, inclusive, and meaningful.
What began as a small team with a shared belief in Humanist values has grown into a network of celebrants supporting families and couples across the UK. Along the way, something equally important developed: a commitment to giving back.
Through The Fuze Foundation, a portion of Marriage ceremony fees helps support charitable work and community projects. Since 2012, that commitment has helped generate over £120,000 in charitable support, helping individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments.
Women Supporting Communities
Across our team, many of the people driving this work forward are women – celebrants, volunteers and leaders who bring empathy, creativity, and professionalism to everything they do.
They work quietly behind the scenes helping couples craft meaningful wedding ceremonies, supporting families through grief, mentoring new celebrants, and raising funds for charitable partners.
But International Women’s Day is not just about leadership titles. It is about recognising the everyday impact women have in their communities. The impact they have as carers, professionals, volunteers, mothers, friends, and advocates.
The strength of any organisation lies in the people who make it work, and we are incredibly proud of the diverse and passionate team who help bring the values of Fuze to life.
Progress Happens Together
Celebrating women’s achievements does not diminish the contributions of others. The truth is that the most positive change happens when people work together. Work together across genders, backgrounds, and experiences, united by shared values.
At Fuze, collaboration has always been central to what we do. Our celebrants work alongside venues, suppliers, couples, families, charities and communities across the UK.
There is no double that the men within our team and wider network play a vital role in supporting the work we do and the values we champion.
International Women’s Day is therefore not about drawing lines between people. It is about recognising how far we have come, while continuing to create opportunities for everyone to thrive.
Looking Forward
Reflecting on the journey since 2012 fills us with enormous pride. From a small idea to a thriving organisation supporting families across Scotland and beyond. The growth of Fuze has been shaped by passion, dedication, and a belief that ceremonies can bring people together in meaningful ways.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we take a moment to recognise the incredible women within our team, the communities we serve, and the many individuals who support our work.
We also look forward to continuing to build something that reflects the values we care deeply about: equality, compassion, respect, and community.
Because when people come together with those values at their heart, remarkable things can happen.
