The Fuze Foundation trustee, Morag Webster, gets ready for her brave jump for Alzheimer Scotland
I’m terrified of heights – so I’m jumping out of a plane at 10,000ft
Our VERTIGO suffering Celebrant and Fuze Foundation Trustee, Morag Webster, who hates flying, is preparing to perform a daredevil skydive from 10,000 feet to conquer her fears. Morag is taking on the terrifying challenge of freefalling at 120 mph to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland, one of our 2023 charity partners. Mum-of-one Morag, from Falkirk, revealed her plans to mark international World Humanist Day today.
The skydive, over Auchterarder in Perthshire on August 12 with Morag determined to put her biggest fear behind her to raise cash and awareness for charity. She said: “For someone who does not fly well and has terrible vertigo, how else would I raise money for an amazing charity? The obvious choice of course, a Skydive. But if you know me at all, you know I am mad.
“I will be jumping from 10,000ft, freefalling at 120 mph through the clouds before gently landing on the ground. I suspect there will be a fair bit of screaming and swearing going on as well.
“I might be scared, but that will only last a short time, and I know how long for. Nothing like people who are living with the devastation of a Dementia diagnosis.
“All monies raised will go to Alzheimer Scotland – Action on Dementia and help support the vital work they do. Alzheimer Scotland is proud of the work they do to make sure nobody faces dementia alone.”
She added: “World Humanist Day is an opportunity for Humanists all around the world to publicise the positive values of Humanism.
“In today’s society we recognise that there are many in need of help, whether as a result of youth, age, ill health, financial hardship and many other disadvantages.”
The event is being run and coordinated by Skyline Skydiving, who work with over 3,000 charities.
Established in 2012, the Falkirk-based Fuze Foundation – a not for profit Humanist organisation – have a team of over 50 professional Celebrants conducting legal Humanist wedding, funeral and naming ceremonies. Alzheimer Scotland is just one of the charities the foundation is supporting this year. In the last decade it has raised thousands for Scottish charities, raised awareness about funeral poverty and provided ceremonies for those in need at no cost. Couples who choose to be married by Fuze donate a portion of the fee to support these causes.
Morag and her fellow celebrants also recently undertook Dementia Friend training offered by Alzheimer Scotland as well as taking part in their Forget me Not appeal across Scottish Morrison’s Stores.

“This is heightened by the fact it will be an extra challenge for her as opposed to being somewhat enjoyable.
