We think it’s fair to say that the UK has fallen head over heels in love with convenience, and who the heck can blame us? According to a recent study, the UK workforce are not only putting in more hours than our European counterparts, we also endure longer commutes and spend less quality time with family and friends.  Therefore, it’s no surprise at all that we’ve wholeheartedly embraced the concept of shopping, banking, booking holidays and even dating from the comfort of our sofas. By digitalising our lives, we now spend less time sitting in traffic jams waiting to get to a supermarket, choosing instead to slip into our comfiest joggers and reach for our mobile phone, which magically transforms a one hour ordeal into a five minute job.

That said, there are a number of industries that appear to be bucking the digital trend, and one such sector is our very own wonderful wedding industry.  While 64% of couples are embracing the internet by using platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest to glean inspiration for their special day, when it comes to actually booking wedding vendors, brides and grooms-to-be prefer to get physical!

With the average price-tag of a wedding now costing in excess of £30,000, plus the fact that a person’s wedding day will hopefully be one of the most significant events of their lives, couples are understandably keen to take a more ‘old-school’ and personal approach to booking their suppliers.  Brides want to make a day of choosing their wedding dress with their mother and/or maids; couples want to get a feel for the atmosphere of their chosen venue; and who doesn’t want to “sample” wedding cake?!  These experiences cannot be replicated in the digital domain and we think one of the BEST ways to fully embrace the wedding planning experience is by heading to a wedding fayre.

Every year, thousands of fantastic wedding shows open their doors to a whole host of sensational suppliers and extraordinary exhibitors who offer brides and grooms-to-be inspiration, insight and more often than not, amazing deals!  So with wedding show season about to kick off, we’ve put together five reasons why you should head along to your local wedding show this autumn:

A Great Day/Night Out

First and foremost, wedding shows can be a really great day/night out!  Let’s face it, wherever there’s free champagne, canapes, cake, live music, fashion shows and hundreds of excited and likeminded people under one roof, you’re sure to have an amazing time.  If you’ve been a little lacklustre in getting into the spirit of wedding planning, then heading to a wedding show is a great way to kickstart the wedding planning process.

Get Inspiration

The primary objective of a wedding show organiser is to bring together the best suppliers in a given area.  The best vendors will be up-to-date with the latest and greatest wedding trends so by attending a wedding show, couples will be able to experience firsthand the freshest wedding trends the industry has to offer.  The larger wedding shows will also often include a catwalk to showcase what’s trending in the world of bridal fashion.

Freebies, Prizes and Deals

Wedding shows can be a haven for securing deals, winning prizes and enjoying freebies in the form of wedding cake/canape/champagne tasters! Couples can save serious money by taking advantage of suppliers and vendors ‘on-the-day’ deals if they sign up to services or product during their visit.  Added to that, there’s often fantastic competitions to enter where couples can be in with a chance of winning anything from a videography session to a wedding cake.

The Personal Touch

When it comes to choosing wedding vendors, couples want to be certain that the people they hire are people they will enjoy working with for an extended period of time.  Wedding shows allow couples the time to formally introduce themselves to potential suppliers and to get to know them.  Personality matters when you are going to be spending months, if not years, putting together one of the most significant events of your life.

Wedding Planning Advice

With so many suppliers and vendors under one roof offering the kind of wedding planning experience one could only dream of, heading to a wedding show makes for the perfect opportunity to get advice on the best course of action to make your big day the best it can be.

So now you know all about the wonders of wedding shows, why not come along to one of Scotland’s go-to wedding shows this autumn and meet Team Fuze, plus a whole host of extraordinary exhibitors.
