Personally, she thinks the Beatles got it right when they said - ‘All you need is Love’ – she’s just added, ‘and a celebrant to marry you’!

For her, love is indeed the one great unifier in life. That no matter who we are, where we come from, we know this one thing to be true: Love. It’s what we all share. And there is no better feeling, than to be loved and loved in return. And she personally thanks you, for having a nosey at her profile and offers a huge congratulations, on your upcoming wedding. It truly is the most magical day, so enjoy every second of the planning!

As a recent bride herself, she understand the excitement (and stresses!) of planning a wedding, and very much strives to ensure that your ceremony – from initial concept to final design – is exactly how you want it: unique, bespoke, and personal to you, and of course, stress free! With a few laughs along the way. Getting to know you as a couple is important to her, to help create a ceremony that is authentically you, and she will keep you guided at every stage. She is here to support your journey to your wedding day while making a connection with you – and also getting ridiculously excited alongside you! She is all about the adventure and helping you write a new chapter in your storybook of life.

When she isn’t immersed in her ceremonies, you can find her spending time with her husband, daughter, family, and friends and of course, her array of much-loved animals (is a home even a home without one or five!). She loves to go on some adventures of her own, travelling and exploring new places and cultures, running, reading and a right good psychological thriller or drama – both in book and film!

For many years, Sam worked within the social care sector supporting and working alongside some of society’s most vulnerable and disenfranchised groups, roles that have not only allowed her to grow personally and garner great interpersonal skills but have enabled her to do the other thing that she loves: working with people. As a qualified celebrant she now gets to do that by helping people to celebrate life and share in some of life’s biggest and momentous occasions. Her journey to become a celebrant began when she was planning her own wedding and loved every single second of it!

So, to finish, ‘all you need is love’ and a celebrant to marry you, and Sam hopes she is the perfect fit for you.

Being a Humanist Celebrant means the world to me that I have the privilege to work closely with you to create and shape one of the most important days of your life, allowing you to embrace your butterflies and enjoy every single moment.”

Nicole has an honours degree in Psychology and has always wanted to work with and help others. After experiencing ill health over the years, her mindset has completely shifted, and it is always a reminder to her to live every single day to the fullest.

Becoming a Humanist Celebrant became a natural career progression for her combining both things she adores most, love and people. She aims to live to create the moments you cannot put into words. Nicole also has experience with public speaking on behalf of charities such as Teenage Cancer Trust and has dedicated a lot of her efforts to fundraising.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, family and friends and staying active as she enjoys running and learning how to play golf. She is also partial to a romance novel and Netflix original movie! The good cheesy stuff.

Whether a love-story or life-story, Julie-Anne will listen to you and work with you to create your unique ceremony. As a Humanist Celebrant she will guide and support you when exploring specifics such as personalised vows, how you want your love-story or the life-story of a loved one to be shared, the music, poetry or readings you want to include, how you want to involve others (people or pets!) in the ceremony, inclusion of symbolic gestures and any other quirks or details to make your ceremony personal and meaningful.

Reflecting the values of Humanism, Julie-Anne embraces life wholeheartedly, believing this helps us to mark and celebrate the important stages from birth to death with vim, vigour and vitality. Whilst her ceremonies are appropriately dignified and respectful of the nature of the circumstances, they are never dull or dark – they have energy, light, emotion and where appropriate incorporate laughter and joy.

Julie-Anne moved from Belfast to Scotland aged 20. She has met lots of diverse and interesting people on her journey, all of whom have enriched her life one way or another. This quote from Dolly Parton sums up her outlook on life - “Dream more, learn more, care more and be more”.

Anna believes it is a tremendous honour to be present at people's most significant moments. When asked what she loves most about being a Celebrant, she says: 'I love listening to people's stories, learning about their lives, and discovering what brought them to this moment in time. Using these details to craft a personalised ceremony that reflects the individuality of each person is my favourite thing to do.'

Anna has had a diverse career, encompassing various roles in administration, systems management, procurement and project management. She was particularly adept at customer service and prided herself on going the extra mile to ensure client satisfaction. As a child, Anna always knew she wanted to work in an office, but after spending 19 years cooped up in one, she yearned to get out and interact with people. This desire led her to pursue a career as a Celebrant, where she could celebrate the joys and milestones of others' lives.

When she isn’t working on a ceremony or shuttling her two children between school and extracurricular activities, Anna enjoys spending time in nature and solving jigsaw puzzles. She loves a turn on the floor as a tap dancer, which is where her love of performance comes from.

Alan Deeney

Alan has been a community mental health nurse for 15 years, and first became interested in humanist ceremonies whilst working as a pro-am photographer. Being involved in small weddings and baby naming’s, Alan became passionate about helping couples and families to have a day personalised to them, this was when he made the decision to complete the SQA Celebrant & Public Speaking Diploma.

Alan has always been drawn to people's unique styles. Fashion of every kind is something that Alan has great interest in, particularly where Dr Martens are worn. Alan has a love of DMs and has a pair for every occasion.

With years of experience working in end of life care, Alan prides himself on his care and compassion but will bring cheerfulness where appropriate. Alan believes every occasion whether happy or sad should be designed to reflect everyone’s desires.

Married to his wife Lorna for 12 years, Alan has a grown-up stepson and stepdaughter who were supportive throughout his journey to becoming a celebrant. He enjoys spending time with his family, and the light of his life, his 6yr old grandson, family means everything to him. Alan is also a member of a local allotment association in his local area. He has a second home (caravan) in central Scotland where he retreats to on weekends and wherever possible.

Clare was inspired to become a celebrant having attended Humanist weddings and funerals of family and friends. She has a passion for delivering a service with a true and sincere reflection of the individual(s). Clare knew this was the perfect vocation for her, and following training to become a fully qualified celebrant, it is her mission to provide the perfect, tailor-made ceremony for you.

Clare has a degree in Psychology and professional background in secondary education. She has transferrable skills, not limited to empathy, listening and excellent communication, setting the foundation for being your perfect celebrant.

Becoming a mum in 2023 has furthered Clare’s appreciation of celebrating life and special milestones with family and friends. She demonstrates this through her ceremonies which are underpinned by Humanist values – embracing equality and each persons’ unique story.

Jennifer Reid

Jennifer realised that she wanted to become a Humanist celebrant after her own Mum’s funeral. She found the funeral so meaningful and personal as all the words had been put together by the family and the story told was as true and as emotional as it could be. After her mum’s humanist funeral service, she decided that she wanted to be able to help families through sad and difficult times and felt confident that she would offer a warm and personal experience.

Jennifer has worked with people from all walks of life during her varied and exciting career and has developed great listening and communication skills. Her first passion was to be a successful hairstylist and have her own business which she did for a few years before changing direction into sales and business development.

She is passionate about customer service and believes in giving only the best to build on relationships. She has vast experience in the hospitality industry which covered many roles including planning and organising conference and banqueting functions, weddings, and funerals She knows a lot of how it all works and has always been successful in making people happy.

Jennifer believes that being a celebrant is a pleasure and an honour as people are putting their trust in you. The role demands fantastic attention to detail and of course empathy in certain situations. Going forward she just has a desire to give deliver unique and personal ceremonies.

Jennifer has a passion for people and thrives when meeting new and diverse individuals with different approaches to things. She has an open mind and is always up for a challenge. She carries a desire to see families through sad and difficult times as she has personal experience of the despair and heartbreak this can bring when losing a loved one.

Everyone should be able to have the service or ceremony personal and unique to them and their family and that is what Jennifer will strive to do.

After attending a few Humanist ceremonies, something clicked for Terry. He found himself drawn to the values at the heart of Humanism. That’s when he decided to train as a Celebrant.

Terry believes in a world where everyone’s voice matters - where human rights, free speech, and democracy aren’t just ideals, but essentials. His values have grown and deepened over the years, shaped by life experience and a natural instinct to care for others. He’s the kind of person who brings warmth into a room without trying. He is naturally thoughtful, gentle, and genuinely kind.
