Gina Williams, Fuze Celebrant announces her 382km charity cycle ride in support for The Fuze Foundation’s 2022 charities
Humanist Wedding Celebrant Cycles From
Vietnam to Cambodia for Charities
Today, we are announcing that Gina Williams, a Humanist Wedding Celebrant at The Fuze Foundation and Fuze Ceremonies, will embark on a self-funded 11 day charity cycle ride covering approximately 382km from Vietnam to Cambodia, from 12th to 22nd November 2022.
Gina will be fundraising for The Fuze Foundation’s three 2022 supported charities who are: – SAMH, CHAS and The Scottish Cot Death Trust.
Established in 2012 our not-for-profit Humanist organisation, based in Scotland, have a team of over 50 professional Celebrants conducting Legal Humanist Wedding, Funeral and Naming Ceremonies.
Couples who choose to be married by Fuze are supporting this ongoing work as a portion of their fee is donated to support these causes. During the first half of this year, a total of £10,650 has collectively been given back to our three charities.
Commenting on her task ahead, Gina said; “As a Chartered Town Planner, I have spent the last two decades working in the beautiful historic city of Edinburgh, caring for the built and natural environment. I also have a passion for off the beaten track travel, seeking out different cultures and exploring historic architecture. Vietnam and Cambodia have long been on my list of places I’d love to visit.
I could have booked a sightseeing holiday, but I do like a challenge! And this challenge piqued my interest. Not only will I get to immerse myself in these amazing countries as I cycle through their stunning scenery, but it’s also an opportunity to give back and raise money for charity.
I have self-funded the trip, which means any donations go directly to our chosen charities. You decide which of the three charities you would like to support, and you can donate by visiting one of the three JustGiving pages I’ve set up … (details below).
‘Going for a ride’ for me usually involves a four-legged beast, as I’m a keen horse rider! So, getting back in the saddle on a bike has been a challenge in itself! I started my training at the end of August with a nice flat 10-mile cycle. It felt good … until I got in the saddle two days later and felt the aches and pains! However, determined to stick with it, I’ve continued to get some miles in my legs so I can enjoy the experience when I’m on the trip. The length of time in the saddle per day, combined with the consecutive days of cycling will undoubtedly be challenging!
The 382 km charity cycle will take me through traditional Vietnamese villages, following streams and rivers, passing paddy fields, and views of the stunning mountains. I’ll then cross the border into Cambodia and push on to the world-famous temple site of Angkor Wat – arguably one of the most fascinating wonders of the world!
I can’t deny, I’m a little anxious about the solo travelling and the cycling challenge ahead of me, but I’m sure the whole experience will be phenomenal. And it would be even more phenomenal if you could spare a few pennies to spur me on with this challenge and in doing so support the tireless work of these three incredible charities.”

Chloe Watson from SAMH said; “We’re delighted that Gina has taken on the challenge of a cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia to raise vital funds for Scotland’s mental health. A heartfelt thank you! It’s also a great reminder that being physically active is a key way to support our mental wellbeing. From everyone at SAMH, a huge thank you and the best of luck.”
Rebecca Addison from CHAS commented; “I was thrilled to meet Gina and hear about the incredible feat she is taking on to help CHAS families. Every mile covered in her journey across Vietnam and into Cambodia will help raise funds to help us ensure that no family in Scotland faces the death of their child alone. We are thrilled to receive Gina’s support and wish her all the very best in her taking on for the trip itself.”
Michael Parkes from Scottish Cot Death Trust added; “A huge thanks to Gina for her incredible energy and commitment in taking on the amazing Vietnam to Cambodia cycle challenge. The Scottish Cot Death Trust are honoured to be one of the partner charities, as Gina fulfils one of her lifetime ambitions. The support we have received from our partnership with the Fuze Foundation so far has been outstanding. Gina’s challenge literally is going the extra mile (or 250!) to make a difference for the Trust! We can’t wait to see and share the photos from her adventure. All while Gina raises vital funds for us to continue to support families devastated by sudden unexpected death in infants (SUDI). Good luck and safe travels, Gina!
Morag Webster, Trustee of The Fuze Foundation added; “We are incredibly proud of Gina and the challenge she is about to conquer is not to be taken lightly. Gina’s passion and commitment as a Humanist Wedding Celebrant is really on show as she has displayed a great amount of care and attention in getting ready and training for the event, just as much as she does whilst supporting and guiding couples to create their bespoke wedding ceremony. We know our three charities will benefit greatly from the funds that Gina will raise.”
