There is something lovely about bringing people together to celebrate what we can achieve as a community.

On Tuesday 22nd September, we were delighted to meet with Suzie from Alzheimer Scotland and Heather and Heilidh from Beatson Cancer Charity to present our latest quarterly donations.  Fuze celebrants Marie and Kerry joined us for the cheque handover, helping celebrate another busy summer of giving back.

For the June to August quarter, The Fuze Foundation has donated £1,500 to each charity — £3,000 in total to support their work with individuals and families across Scotland.

We are also proud to share that our overall give back has now reached £136,509. That total represents years of ceremonies, fundraising and generosity from our Fuze community, and we are grateful to everyone who has played a part.

Supporting people affected by dementia

Alzheimer Scotland supports people living with all forms of dementia, alongside their families and carers. Its work includes a 24-hour Freephone Dementia Helpline, Dementia Advisors and Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centres, helping people find information, reassurance and support when they need it.

For a family adjusting to a diagnosis, knowing where to turn can make a difficult situation feel a little less overwhelming. Having someone listen, explain the support available and help with the next step can mean a great deal.

There have been some encouraging developments at Alzheimer Scotland this year. Its new National Centre in Edinburgh, completed in early 2026, brings together a Brain Health Hub, direct support and day opportunities for people with dementia and their carers, and facilities for training in brain health and dementia care.

More recently, the charity opened applications for its 2027 Student Research Programme, working with the Scottish Dementia Research Consortium. This programme focuses on people and communities who are underrepresented or underserved in dementia research and support, with particular attention to inequalities affecting rural and remote communities. That commitment to inclusion feels especially relevant to our own Foundation values.

Our donation contributes to Alzheimer Scotland’s wider work, helping the charity continue supporting people today while working towards better understanding and care for the future.

What a donation can mean at Beatson Cancer Charity

Cancer can affect so many aspects of someone’s life, from their confidence and emotional wellbeing to worries about work and family.

Beatson Cancer Charity’s own examples help bring the difference a donation can make into focus:

• £25 could provide an hour of relaxing massage, offering support with stress and anxiety during treatment.
• £50 could fund a wig consultation and care pack for someone experiencing hair loss.
• £100 could fund the charity’s tea trolley service for a week, providing complimentary refreshments for patients and families attending The Beatson.

Using those published examples, £1,500 is equivalent to the cost of 60 hours of massage support, or 30 wig consultations and care packs. These are illustrations of what funding can make possible, rather than a specific allocation of our donation.

A welcoming conversation, time to relax or help adjusting to changes in appearance can bring comfort during an uncertain time. We are proud to contribute to the charity’s work and the care it offers people affected by cancer.

Giving our time as well as raising funds

Our support for Beatson has also taken us beyond the cheque presentation this summer.

Morag and Cindy volunteered at TRNSMT, helping raise awareness of the charity and assisting guests on the accessible platform by collecting and delivering food and drinks. It was a practical way to help people enjoy their day while supporting a cause close to our hearts.

Then, on 13th September, Team Fuze joined Yellow Yogis at Glasgow’s SEC. Together, our team raised £481 for Beatson Cancer Charity, in addition to the Foundation’s £1,500 quarterly donation.

Thank you to everyone who took part, donated and encouraged the team. Giving back takes many forms, and we value the time and enthusiasm people bring as much as the money raised.
