Yellow Yogis: One Room, 1,200 People and One Incredible Cause

September 15, 2026by Morag Webster

There was something quite extraordinary about looking around the SEC and seeing more than 1,200 people gathered in one room, all ready to move, stretch and breathe together for the same important cause.

On Sunday 13th September, Team Fuze joined Yellow Yogis, a huge community yoga event raising funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre. It was very different from the races, walks and other charity fundraisers we have taken part in over the years, and that was part of what made it so special.

Representing Fuze were Laura, Morag, Nicole, Clare, Marie and Kerry, joined by lifelong Fuze supporter Claire. There may have been a few mixed feelings about our flexibility beforehand, but the event was designed to welcome everyone, from experienced yogis to complete beginners. We were all there to take part, have fun and help make a difference.

A powerful sense of togetherness

The day was hosted by Jenny Powell, with the yoga practice led by Finlay Wilson, better known as The Kilted Yogi. His arrival was announced in suitably Scottish style as he was piped into the SEC by the Scottish Power Pipe Band.

The atmosphere throughout the room was incredible. Row after row of bright yellow mats filled the vast space, and for that time, more than 1,200 people were connected by the same movements and the same purpose.

We were also treated to a surprise performance by Scottish singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes, adding another memorable moment to an already special day. We even bumped into Beatson supporter Sanjeev Kohli, who was more than happy to stop for a Team Fuze selfie.

There was plenty of laughter and energy, but there was emotion too. As the practice came to an end and the room became still, the reason we were all there felt especially powerful.

Cancer touches almost every one of us in some way. It may be through our own diagnosis, someone we love, a friend, a colleague or a family we have supported. In that final moment, surrounded by so many people, there was a real sense of shared experience, hope and remembrance.

We went along hoping that our stretch might help, and together, all those stretches certainly did.

Supporting the Beatson Wellbeing Centre

At the end of the event, organisers announced that an incredible £175,000 had already been raised, with more donations still to come.

The funds raised through Yellow Yogis will directly support the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre. Located within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, it provides a calm and welcoming space away from wards and clinics, where patients and their families can rest, take a breath and access vital non-clinical support.

Its tranquil lounges offer somewhere to relax and look out across Glasgow’s West End, while its wellbeing services help people affected by cancer to improve their emotional and physical health. The support can help reduce anxiety and pain while building confidence at a time when comfort, care and human connection matter enormously.

Every donation can contribute to that support. For example:

• £5 could help provide a journal and pen set, giving someone space to reflect and express their thoughts.

• £10 could help provide art materials to support creativity and emotional wellbeing.

• £15 could help provide blankets for patients needing extra warmth and comfort.

• £100 could help provide MP3 players for five patients, offering comfort, distraction and a sense of calm.

There is still time to support Team Fuze

Yellow Yogis

Beatson Cancer Charity is one of The Fuze Foundation’s charity partners for 2026/27, and we are incredibly proud to support the difference it makes for people and families affected by cancer.

The yoga may be finished and the mats may be rolled away, but fundraising is still open. If you would like to support our efforts, you can donate through the Team Fuze JustGiving page.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated, shared our page or cheered us on. Every contribution, no matter its size, helps the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre continue to be there for people when they need it most.

Perhaps our hamstrings will forgive us eventually, but being part of 1,200 people moving together for such an important cause was worth every stretch.
